Story
As CEO of KCIL I was incredibly lucky to win a ballot place for the London Marathon in 2025 and as a regular runner I was keen to raise funds for the charity. However 4 weeks into training disaster struck when my wife Sian suffered a double ankle break on February 1st last year. Following 4 hours in surgery and lots of metal and pins - see photo - I had to defer my place to the following year. 2025 passed with weeks of no weight bearing and months of rehab for Sian to learn to walk again. By September 2025 Sian was walking with a stick and by early 2026 was back to walking 3-4 miles at a time.
Supporting a loved one as they struggled with mobility was certainly a challenging period and as CEO of this wonderful charity I was fortunate to have a team of staff who were incredibly supportive through the year. Training started in December 2025 and having ran nearly 500 miles in preparation since January 1st I am now ready to take on the challenge.
All monies raised will go towards supporting and empowering disabled people throughout 2026.
