Story

The Centre for Military Ethics' mission is to conduct research into military ethics to develop and promote best practise in its education and application across global defence and security forces. Fostering ethical awareness and moral decision-making in military personnel is a proven way of reducing harm and suffering in conflict situations, but military institutions around the world often lack the tools, expertise, or funds to deliver effective military ethics training. There is therefore substantial benefit in making quality military ethics education as widely available as possible.

The Centre's educational material has impacted the skills of military personnel around the world, by building their decision-making capacity, by shaping their conduct on operations, and ultimately, by saving lives. This reflects the core philosophy of the Centre and has so far been made possible due to research funding, generous donations, and institutional support.

The educational content, such as the courses and the military ethics education playing cards can be accessed by anyone, for free, at www.militaryethics.uk.
