Help Keep the Magpie Centre Going During Our Temporary Closure

The Magpie Centre has been a place of hope, confidence and opportunity for thousands of children and adults over the years. Every week, our horses help people build confidence, improve their wellbeing, develop independence and experience the unique bond between humans and horses.

Unfortunately, following 1 positive case of strangles on site, we have had to make the difficult decision to temporarily close the Centre while we follow strict veterinary guidance and biosecurity measures.

Although our gates are closed to visitors, life at Magpie hasn't stopped.

Our horses and ponies still need feeding every day. Their stables still need mucking out. They still require bedding, hay, veterinary care, farrier visits and daily attention from our dedicated team. Alongside this, the Centre continues to face essential running costs of around £4,200 every week.

During this period, our usual income has reduced significantly, but our responsibility to care for our horses and protect the future of the Centre remains exactly the same.

Provide daily feed, hay and bedding for our horses and ponies.

Cover essential veterinary and farrier care.

Keep the Centre running safely throughout the closure.

Ensure we're ready to reopen and welcome our participants back as soon as it is safe to do so.
