Fairhome Group Executive Chairman, John Russell, is leading a team on a gruelling charity cycle ride around Anglesey to raise funds to ensure that Broughton Park FC and the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation (DMSF) can keep their shared minibus on the road.
John, a member of Broughton Park FC and Chair of DMSF, will lead a team of Broughton Park FC and DMSF supporters around Anglesey on the 22nd April, 2022.
The minibus provides vital transport to- and from- home and venues for young people from inner city areas across Manchester, enabling them to access events and groups safely without the cost of public transport.
John said: "Transport availability has a huge impact on the life-choices young people make. Our ultimate aim is to renew the current bus or add another, and the money raised from this cycle ride will be ring fenced for this. "
Initially it's hoped that the cycle ride will raise enough funds to cover two years worth of tax, MoT, insurance, servicing and repairs for the current minibus.
Diane Modahl, co-Founder and CEO of the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation said: "This is a great example of partners working together to develop young people across Greater Manchester. One of the biggest barriers to young people achieving their potential is a lack of money and transport. Keeping the bus on the road will crucially support both clubs to bring opportunities closer to young people, increase ambition and improve overall well being. Huge thanks to our resilient cyclist - good luck team, you've got this.
Both Diane and Jim Rochford, Chairman of BPFC, thank and wish the best of luck to all the participants.
