Story

Hi everyone,

I’ve set myself a bit of a challenge for my 60th birthday and the 10-year anniversary of Benji’s passing - both of which fall this year…

I’m going to walk the Robin Hood Way - just over 100 miles in and around Nottingham, and across Nottinghamshire; from the medieval gatehouse of Nottingham Castle to the ancient oaks of Sherwood Forest, taking a meandering route linking historic sites with some of the major tourist attractions north of the River Trent.

I’ve seen the signs for the Robin Hood Way many times when I’ve been out walking so it’ll be good to piece it all together.

I won’t be completing the 105 miles of the Robin Hood Way in one go, or alone, though - I’ll be completing it in sections, and I shouldn’t get lost as Steve will be walking with me, as of course will Amber, our dog.

We’ll post photos of each leg once we’ve completed it - hopefully, Steve won’t get too many of me falling over…

The first section starts at the Robin Hood Statue/Nottingham Castle, and the final section ends at Edwinstowe Church - if anyone would like to join us for any of the sections, we would love your company, just let us know.

We’re aiming to do the 1st section of the Robin Hood Way on the day of Benji’s passing (April 23rd) and the last on his birthday (Sept 9th) and will keep posting lots of photos of our journey so you’ll know if we’re on track with those dates.

I’m hoping that enough people will sponsor us to complete the full 105 miles so that we can raise some money for the Benjamin Barsby Fund - the charity that we set up in Benji’s name, to help support young people, especially men, suffering with their mental health and wellbeing.

If you’d like to make me happy now that i’m 60, and at the same time help raise money to support those struggling with their mental health, please can you donate a few pounds, or more if you wish.
