This year I’ll be doing my annual Back packing fundraiser for The Matthew Project. As you may know, I’ve been working for the Matthew Project for a good few years now and I am passionate about the work they do throughout Norfolk and beyond, working alongside young people and adults to overcome the impact of drugs, alcohol, and mental health issues so they can live life more fully.

There are numerous reasons why somebody might become affected by substance use and The Matthew Project support people on an individual basis, Group Work, Outreach, in places of education, Veterans and with Parents and Young People affected by someone close to them using or in recovery.

I’ll be doing this years trip around some lovely parts of Norfolk with a few great friends who help me with this each year. We’ll be leaving Norwich early Friday 4th September and returning home at some point on Sunday 6th September and will be covering approx. 100 miles, riding around 30 miles per day. The trip will take us on and off road, with our Bikes and all the gear we’ll need to see us over the few days. Part of the challenge, as always, is carrying all the equipment we need on our bikes and Camping each night. The trip will take us through the lovely Norfolk countryside up to Burnham Deepdale on the North Norfolk Coast stopping to camp for the night, then along the coast towards the Cromer area where we’ll find somewhere to set up camp again for the night and make our way slowly back to Norwich at some point on Sunday.

We like to do this for The Matthew Project each year to raise vital funds and awareness of the amazing work they do to help the people of our County.
