Kidderminster Choral Society

Covid Recovery

In common with many cultural organisations Kidderminster Choral Society has struggled during the pandemic. We are now raising funds to help cover the costs of future concerts and to ensure the continued existence of the Society.

Story

The society aims to always perform top quality music and needs top quality musicians to support us. These include the conductor, the soloists, the musicians making up the orchestra plus on occasions an organist. None of this comes cheap. An orchestral musician on average costs £150 for a concert, soloists can costs still more. There are then the costs of the venue and music hire, so you can see that the costs of staging a concert are considerable. During the pandemic we have not been able to stage as many concerts as normal and those that have gone ahead have understandably not had the same attendance. This has drained our reserves so we are mounting this campaign to try to put the Society on a firmer financial footing.

About the charity

Kidderminster Choral Society is a family of three choirs with a long history, dating back to 1899. In addition to the main Choral Society, we have two choirs for young people. Wyre Forest Young Voices, our youth choir and Primary Chords, our junior choir.
