The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileMy name is Kieran Dodrill and the "Road Runners" are a group of eight friends who will be taking on the challenge of running the New York City Marathon in November in aid of the Denis Burkett Ward at St James Hospital.
At some stage in our lives, all of our group have been affected by Cancer so we wanted to take on this challenge and raise funds by doing something that we all like to do which is running. It is a great opportunity for us all to come together and help other people that are fighting the fight now.
We have chosen to support the Denis Burkett Ward at St Jamess Hospital in memory of my beautiful wife, Maura Dodrill.
In early 2018, Maura was diagnosed with leukaemia and sent to St James Hospital. Upon arrival, Maura was taken into excellent care by the staff in the Denis Burkett Ward where she would go on to spend a lot of her time over the last year and a half of her life.
Maura fought a hard battle with the leukaemia but unfortunately it wasnt to be, and sadly Maura passed away in June 2019.
We want to fundraise for the Denis Burkett Ward so that they can continue giving the excellent care to other families that find themselves in the same circumstances that we found ourselves in.
Over the next eight months will be training hard so that we all can make it over the finish line in New York on Sunday, 5th of November.
We will also be organising some additional fundraisers along the way which we will post on our social media accounts.
Thank You for your support
