At One Community Scotland we offer help and support to families and young people who are settling in to life in Scotland. We have recruited ‘champions’ with origins in the Horn of Africa to help us do this. Whether it’s getting to know the city, improving language skills or applying for jobs the ladies are there to help. Our champions all have experience of settling in Scotland and have been given a range of training so they can ensure people get the right support from people and services in the city to overcome any challenges.

Story

Imagine being 16, without a safe place to sleep, no job, no education and no clear path forward. Too many young people in our community are facing this harsh reality—out of education, unemployed and at risk of homelessness. Without support, they become vulnerable to exploitation, isolation and despair.

At One Community Scotland, we refuse to let them slip through the cracks. With your help, we can provide life-changing support, including:

✅ Food vouchers so they don’t have to go hungry.

🏠 Safe hostel accommodation to give them stability.

📚 Guidance and resources to help them return to education or find work.

By walking in the Kiltwalk 2025, we are taking steps—both literal and figurative—toward a future where no young person is left in limbo. Inspired by the UNHCR convention on children's right to education, we are committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness and unemployment by ensuring these young people have the support they need to rebuild their lives.
