We believe that learning about archaeology and heritage enriches lives. Engagement with the past can inform, give enjoyment, direction, identity, stronger community, new skills and as we work primarily outdoors, benefits to health and wellbeing. Professional, inclusive and fun for all the family.

Story

"I came to volunteer at First Hampden because I love football. I have an opportunity for me to communicate with people in Glasgow and improve my English."

"The project helped me with my listening and speaking. It was a good idea this type of activity (archaeology) for introduction to the English language."

Samira was delighted to show Archaeology Scotland staff how she could grind flour on a quernstone faster than we could because it was part of her culture.
