Story

We are pleased to share these quotes from our families …

“St Andrew’s Children’s Society changed our lives for the better 25 years ago. They offered us strength and support when we were very sad and hopeless. We have never looked back and our two wonderful children aged 16 and 22 make us happy every day. Cannot thank the whole team enough for everything they have done for us all. Best decision we have ever made was making our family through adoption.”

“It has all been a bit manic here, as I am sure you can imagine, so I am sorry it has taken so long to reply. First day of school went really well and she seemed to do great; however, it did all kick off later, which seemed to stem from her not wanting to be away from me, which we are taking as a big positive, despite the trauma of the evening.”

"During the adoption process, nothing can prepare you for the "FULL ON" experience it is to take a neglected child into your heart and your home. You want to love them and care for them but they are, unfortunately, in a never ending struggle with emotions, so strong, that they can barely contain themselves from minute to minute and you are, as a parent, on tenterhooks waiting for the next trigger to set them off.

I am not sure how we would have managed to get through the first month, or so, without St Andrew’s Children’s Society’s help, support and guidance and even during the worst of the Covid-19 lockdown. They were available at a moment’s notice, on the phone, on Skype group calls as well as arranging video calls for moral support and family Theraplay sessions. The selfless support from this organisation is priceless, as is the dedication of its highly trained and intuitive staff and we can honestly say that without them we, would probably not still be going through the process."

“Many thanks for all your help and support Rita* and the team (* former Adoption Support Manager).”
