Kingfisher Canoe Club

New Home

Having been homeless for 2 years, we finally have planning permission for a new hut at Abingdon Lock. Whilst the club has funds to cover some of the cost, we still need to raise £30k to be able to start and finish the work. All donations appreciated.

Story

After a three-year search looking at sites along both banks of the Abingdon stretch of the River Thames we have finally located and had plaaning permission granted to build a timber frame canoe storage and changing facilities for the club on Abingdon Lock Island.

With this hurdle completed we are now finalising plans for construction.

Although the club has the funds required to start construction we will require additional to complete the works. to this end we are seeking oportunities to apply for grants and asking for indiviual donations.

About the charity

We are a community kayak and canoe club providing facilities and coaching to youth and adults of all abilities from complete beginners to seasoned experts. Since we have recently been forced to leave our site, we are currently raising funds to build facilities in a new location.
