Students in the UK generally have access to laptops, tablets and mobile phones, through which they can do their studies. However, in Malawi students are not able to afford laptops or indeed any electronic device which makes it difficult for them to do their studies and exams.
This is also the case for teachers, because their mobile phones and old laptops (if they have them) are not good enough for the work they need to do and in addition the schools linking programme requires them to have good internet capability to connect with the UK.
We have been offered some good quality laptops by Computer Aid at a low price, but we need to raise the funds to purchase them.
We wish to purchase a minimum of twenty but would love to have more available so we can help those students who are in urgent need and enable teachers to be better equipped.
The spec of the laptops is: Icore 5 processor, 4GB RAM, with 250GB hard drive, with Windows 10 installed. The cost is £110 each.
We would be delighted if you felt able to support this appeal to enable us to improve education in Malawi for hundreds of children.
