Story
This summer, we're raising funds to launch Young Company: our new inclusive weekly theatre group for young adults aged 18-30 year olds.
Too many disadvantaged young people lose access to creative opportunities once they turn 18, whether it be due to disability, finances or other barriers.
While Angel Shed provides inclusive theatre for young people up to this age, there is a lack of provision everywhere for 18+ who wish to pursue careers in the performing arts.
For the 63% of our members who are Disabled, this often means losing not only a creative outlet, but also the confidence, friendships and other wellbeing related benefits that come with our inclusive theatre sessions. A lack of provision also results in limited creative progression for Disabled young people, and their subsequent underrepresentation in the arts.
With your support, we'll launch a pilot programme, and build towards making Young Company part of our year round offer for Disabled young people.
Young Company is particularly important for current members who would otherwise age out of our sessions, especially those for whom Angel Shed is the only safe, inclusive space they can access.
Funding will help us deliver weekly workshops that are inclusive and inspiring for both our current members moving up, and new young adults experiencing Angel Shed for the first time. This includes providing the Access Support Workers needed to ensure everyone can take part, and for the work created to be safely youth led.
Your donation helps build crucial, life changing pathways into performing arts careers for disadvantaged young people.
Thank you!
