Meet Laya

Meet Laya, a determined 9-year-old girl living with an extremely rare genetic condition called UFSP2, alongside epilepsy and developmental difficulties.

Despite all the challenges she faces, Laya continues to surprise us with her strength and determination. For Laya, progress can be holding her head up a little longer, becoming stronger in sitting, making a new movement or gaining a little more independence. Every little step matters.

Laya has recently completed her first three-week intensive programme at NAPA – 45 hours of specialist therapy. She worked incredibly hard on her head and body control, sitting, standing and stepping, and made encouraging progress throughout the three weeks.

Seeing what Laya can achieve with intensive therapy has made me determined to continue giving her these opportunities and help her build on the progress she has made.

Your support will help Laya access further specialist intensive therapies, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), giving her opportunities to become stronger, develop new skills and gain as much independence as possible and improve her quality of life.
