Salisbury Foodbank 40 for 40 Easter appeal

Campaign by Salisbury Foodbank

Give up 40p a day for the 40 days of Lent and help local individuals and families facing hardship this Easter. Collect your 40p in a jar, bank it at the end of Lent, and send a cheque payable to Salisbury Foodbank. Small change. Big difference.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to go hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks, combatting poverty and hunger in the UK

Story

At present, we are supporting around 600 people each month, approximately 40% of whom are children. Alongside emergency food provision, we also fund a Citizens Advice advisor to be based in three of our foodbank centres. This service supports people with access to reduced utility bills, debt management, and advice around benefits, helping people move towards greater stability.

Importantly, for every £1 we invest in this advice project, it generates an estimated £9 return directly to the person being supported, through increased income, reduced outgoings, or managed debt.

“Your kindness and understanding has given me a warm glow and a purpose to keep fighting with the intent on slowly becoming myself again”. Person who has visited one of our foodbank centres.
