Can you help share God's love with people in need this Lent?
Host a simple Lent Lunch with CUF and raise essential funds to support people and churches struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
The idea of a Lent Lunch is simple: provide a frugal lunch of soup, bread and butter and donate the money you save.
Your Lent Lunch is also an opportunity to invite more people into the life of your church, sharing conversation and Gods love with more people in your community.
Food holds people and communities together
Sharon is a single mum - one of the most at-risk groups from the impact of the rising cost of living. She says her family do all they can to support each other but money is tight.
Through our Together Network, we support families like Sharon's to access affordable and nutritious food through local food pantries that are available to all.
Sharon said, "Having this service means the small amount of money we have left each week goes further now. We can use some of our money to top up gas and electric to make sure the house is warm for the kids."
With the support of the Together Network, local churches across the country are opening food pantries or Places of Welcome, where people are fed both physically and spiritually.
There are many different reasons people turn to community food spaces, and struggling to make ends meet is just one of them. Many people come in search of community, to make friends, or even because they want to address local food waste.
"A constant theme in feedback from recipients was the importance of 'knowing someone cares for me'. This was shown through provision of food but also numerous cups of tea and a listening ear, extra bags of gifts and food at Christmas, activity resources and family games included in food parcels, helping people to navigate the benefit system, secure accommodation and so on." - Transforming Lives Together
Donate this Lent and your kindness will help provide the resources and tools local churches need to overcome the cost of living crisis and support families like Sharon's.
