Poole hospice charity shop appeals for support after second break-in in just over two weeks

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is appealing for the public’s help after its charity shop in Poole was broken into on 15th September, the second break-in in just over two weeks. We are asking our supporters to consider donating towards repairs. Thank you

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is an independent local Dorset charity providing extraordinary care to people and their loved ones facing a life-limiting illness. We support over 1000 patients and families every year in their homes, virtually, and at our hubs across Dorset and West Hampshire.

Story

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is appealing for the public’s help after its charity shop in Poole was broken into for the second time in just over two weeks.

A laptop and two smart tablets were stolen, and rear windows were smashed, leaving our hospice charity facing unexpected repair and replacement costs.

Sally Wilsher, Shop Manager, said: “It is heartbreaking to see our shop targeted twice in such a short space of time. Our team puts so much care into the shop, and this has been deeply upsetting. We would be grateful for any support our community can offer as we recover.”

Dean Tiller, Retail Trading Manager, said: “Alongside the damage to our back windows, the theft of a laptop and two smart tablets has left us facing unexpected repair and replacement costs. Donations, offers of repair services or help with replacing the equipment would make a real difference.”

Clare Gallie, CEO, said: “We are deeply saddened that our hospice charity shop in Poole has been broken into twice in just over two weeks. Every penny raised through our shops helps us provide vital care and support to local people and their families at an incredibly difficult time. To steal from a hospice shop is to take away from the care we are able to provide to our community. We are grateful to the police for investigating and to our wonderful staff, volunteers and supporters for their continued commitment. We know that many people are facing financial pressures, but if you are able to help towards the repair and replacement costs, we would be incredibly grateful. Whether you make a donation, offer practical help or share our appeal, your support will make a real difference.”

We’re now asking our wonderful supporters, customers and friends to help us get our shop back up and running by donating towards the cost of repairing the damage and replacing the equipment that was stolen. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference and help ensure our shop can continue raising vital funds for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.

We’d also love to hear from local businesses who may be able to support us by offering repair services, materials or suitable replacement equipment. Your generosity could make an enormous difference, and we would be incredibly grateful for any help you’re able to offer.

Thank you so much for your support.
