Help Us Tackle Loneliness in Lewisham This Winter
This winter, over 21,000 residents in Lewisham are facing the harsh reality of severe loneliness. For many, it’s a time of year spent alone, without the warmth of family or friends. But with your help, we can make a real difference.
Community Connections Lewisham, in partnership with the Salvation Army, is working to support the most isolated and vulnerable people in our community. We aim to deliver 100 meals, small gifts, and Christmas care packages to those who will be alone this Christmas. But we can't do it without you!
With your donation, you’ll be helping us to continue running vital services, including:
Our Befriending Service: offering companionship for those who need it, ensuring everyone has a lifeline.
Weekly Drop-in Sessions: a place for people to connect with their neighbours, and understand what support their community can provide.
Our Transport Service: Ensuring that isolated residents in Lewisham are able to receive meals, attend community groups, and join in with their Christmas parties. Everyone should have access to their neighbourhood.
Here’s how your donation can help:
£5 could cover the cost of a weekly drop-in with hot drinks, biscuits, and a craft activity – helping people connect and feel part of a community.
£11 could cover the cost of delivering a warm meal and a thoughtful gift to someone spending Christmas alone.
£15 could sponsor a volunteer for a month, offering consistent support to someone in need.
Our campaign runs from December 26th to January 18th, and we’re hoping to raise £3,000 to help us continue these vital services. With your support, we can ensure that people don’t have to face the cold and isolation of winter alone. Please donate today, and together we can make a positive difference for Lewisham’s most isolated residents.
People often forget about elderly people and how lonely it can get. Not a lot of people seem to care these days, so I'm really touched that you're looking out for me and helping me meet new people.
