In 2025, Light Up Learning turns 10! For the past decade, we’ve been mentoring young people across Edinburgh, the Lothians, and the Borders, especially those who have encountered multiple hurdles in their lives and for whom the school system can be more of a challenge than it needs to be. Traditional education doesn’t always work for everyone, but when learning feels personal, engaging, and flexible, young people thrive! Our mentors work one-to-one with students to help them explore what excites them, building their confidence, independence, and aspirations for the future.

To celebrate this milestone, we’re aiming to raise £2,025 by the end of 2025, enough to fund over 100 mentoring sessions for young people who need extra support and inspiration!

Why Your Support Matters

Many of the young people we work with have faced significant barriers, whether that’s poverty, unstable home lives, additional learning needs, or feeling disconnected from mainstream education. Without the right support, these challenges can make school feel like a place of struggle rather than opportunity.
