My nanna was cared for there during the final stages of her life, and the compassion, dignity, and comfort they gave her — and all of our family — meant more than I can ever put into words.

St Bede’s didn’t just provide medical care; they created a calm, supportive environment where my nanna was treated with kindness and respect every single day. They also looked after us as a family, guiding us through one of the hardest times of our lives with understanding and warmth. Because of them, my nanna’s final days were peaceful and filled with love, and that is something I will always be grateful for.

My nanna was 80 years old when she was looked after by St Bede’s, and I will never be able to fully put into words how much their care meant to her and to all of us. In what was the most painful and heartbreaking time of our lives, they gave her comfort and peace.

Running the Great North Run is my way of giving something back and saying thank you.
