Somerset #2minute litterpick project - litterpicking safely during Covid-19

Organised by CPRE Somerset

Our new #2minute litterpick stations will help the public to keep Somerset litter free. Please help us to fit them with sanitiser units so volunteers can litterpick safely during Covid-19.

Story

We have all noticed more litter during lockdown. Horrible isn't it? We all want to do something about it - and now you can! To give everyone the chance to make a difference, we are installing 5 new #2minute litterpick stations in popular places around Somerset. Anyone visiting can spend a few minutes borrowing our litterpicking kits and cleaning up the area to leave it clean and tidy for future visitors.

We have already raised the money for the #2minute litterpick stations and we have cafes and visitor centres excited and ready to put them out after lockdown ends in a few weeks. BUT - Covid-19 has put one last hurdle in our way!

We now need to buy special sanitiser units to fix to each station so that they can be used safely by the public. Without these, we are unable to put the stations out and they remain unused. The sanitiser units cost £60 each and we need 5 of them - one for each of our lovely litterpick stations.

Can you help us to pass this final hurdle so we can get our #2minute litterpick stations out in Somerset, doing good, improving the environment, cutting pollution and getting people involved?

UPDATE: Many thanks to Somerset's Brilliant Coast Project for donating £60 offline to cover the cost of one of our new sanitisers to go at Watchet Visitor Centre. Also a BIG thank you to South Somerset District Council Leisure & Recreation who are funding two sanitiser units for their boards at Yeovil Country Park and Chard Reservoir. That's another offline donation of £120 - thank you.

UPDATE: 19th April 2021 - We smashed it! Thank you to all our supporters and members who responded to our email request to support our appeal last week. We only needed a little bit extra to reach our target and you excelled yourselves! We have now exceeded our target and will take the campaign offline. Our next job is to get our new sanitisers sorted now so the litterpick stations can go out very soon! Any left over funds will go towards our litter project, providing kits and support to our ever growing army of #2minute litterpick volunteers cleaning up Somerset.

Thank you.
