Story

It’s been 100 years since the first meeting of the Lodge of St Andrew and fundraising has been at the heart of its celebrations.

Having run the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall earlier in the year, W.Bro. Eddie Brook has just finished running 100 miles to commemorate 100 years of the Lodge of St Andrew to raise money for Festival ’29 and Dove House Hospice. We have set a target to raise £5,000.

Starting on the morning of Friday 16th January 2026 from the Saltburn Masonic Hall, W.Bro. Brook ran 50 miles across the North York Moors, finishing at Castlegate House in York on Friday evening. He then set off the next day to run 25 miles, finishing at the Selby Masonic Hall on Saturday afternoon. Finally, on Sunday 18th, he then ran a further 25 miles from Selby to Hull, finishing at the Beverley Road Masonic Hall on Sunday afternoon.

To raise the funds for Festival ’29 and Dove House Hospice, the Lodge needs the help and support of its sister Lodges. It is hoped that the freemasons of Saltburn, Castlegate York, Selby and Beverely Road will be there on the day to provide W.Bro. Brook with support, cheers and encouragement to foster fellowship across the Province.

To run 100 miles in three consecutive days is a feat that tests the outer limits of human resolve, endurance, and imagination. Running 100 miles for Festival ’29 and Dove House Hospice transforms every mile into a testament of hope, perseverance, and communal solidarity.
