Brands Hatch Bike Endurance Challenge (LonSAR x Missing People)

London Search and Rescue are entering a team into the 8-Hour Challenge around Brands Hatch. We'll be there showcasing our Specialized e-bikes and bespoke Bike Support Unit. The challenge raises vital funds for both charities.

Closes 30/09/2025

We are a volunteer-led charity that supports the Metropolitan and City of London Police in locating high-risk vulnerable missing people across the capital. Our professionally trained search technicians are selfless, dependable and compassionate - committed to saving lives, 24/7, in all conditions.

Story

One Ride. One Mission.

Every 90 seconds, someone is reported missing in the UK. In London alone, over 42,000 people are reported missing each year — and around 10% of them are considered high-risk and vulnerable.

That includes missing children, people living with dementia, and those facing overwhelming mental health challenges.

London Search and Rescue

We’re a volunteer-driven charity made up of professionally trained Search Technicians, Support Technicians, and Specialist Teams — all working together to support the Metropolitan Police, City of London Police, and the NHS in the search for vulnerable missing people.

Our team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

While many imagine London as purely urban, over 40% of the city is made up of green and blue space — including more than 3,000 parks, woodlands, commons, and miles of canals and rivers. That’s where we search.

Whether on foot, by bike, using drones, dogs, kayaks, or specialist water teams — we go wherever the missing might be.

This September, we’re taking that mission to the track.

Battling Brands Hatch

On 4th September 2025, Search Technician and Bike Search Team member Mark Chapman will be representing the team at the 8 Hour Challenge — an endurance cycling race held at the world-famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit.

Mark is riding for the people we search for — and for the families who never stop waiting.

Every lap I ride is for someone who’s still missing — and for the loved ones who are still hoping. That’s why I’m doing this.

Why This Challenge Matters

When someone disappears, every moment counts. And every donation makes a difference.

The ride is organised by the charity Missing People; by taking part, we not only support them in their vital work, but also have the opportunity to spread the word about the devastating impact when someone goes missing

By sponsoring Mark’s ride, you’ll be helping to:

👉 Fund essential search and rescue equipment and training;

👉 Support our volunteers on call 24/7; and

👉 Provide a lifeline of hope to families facing the unthinkable.

You’re not just backing a fundraiser — you’re helping bring missing people home.

Without you, we are lost

Together, we can make sure no one is left behind. Every pound raised helps us search longer, search further — and search smarter.

Thank you.
