Story
In June, over a day and a half, 92 men and women came together to raise vital funds for three charities, by aiming to break the record for the longest games of rugby.
They did it! They are now Guinness World Records holders!!!!!!
The Women’s World Record has been confirmed as 26hrs 33 Minutes and the Men’s World Record as 34hrs 48 mins.
Records have been broken, and thanks to their efforts both on the pitch and in their fundraising, it will enable LooseHeadz and Wooden Spoon to continue mending lives.
Here’s the great causes they’ll be supporting:
LooseHeadz is rugby’s mental health charity on a mission to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and provide dedicated leads for rugby clubs to help players talk openly about what can be a challenging subject. LooseHeadz provide partner rugby club with a toolkit of free resources to support the mental fitness of players, coaches and supporters.
Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby who fund life-changing projects across the UK & Ireland supporting children and young people living with disabilities, those disadvantaged or disenfranchised. Projects include specialist playgrounds, sensory rooms, educational programmes and specialist adapted sports equipment.
The British & Irish Lions Trust exists to connect with, nurture and support all Lions players in need, whilst furthering the spirit, values and ethos of The British & Irish Lions throughout rugby clubs across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
