Story
The Longhorn breed has been around for hundreds of years, and was formalised in 1878 when the first herdbook was published. In the 1970's the breed nearly died out but thanks to the dedication of a few breeders it survived and has grown steadily. It is still classified by DEFRA as a 'native breed at risk' so we cannot afford to relax and assume the breed will be OK.
The breed society exists to register purebred cattle in order to ensure the provenance of each and every Longhorn. Many breeders can trace their cattle back through multiple generations and no other breed has been introduced, thereby maintaining it's purity.
Your support will enable the society to support breeders through both promotion and publicity of the breed, and we offer help and advice on the breed and it's care and management to ensure it's sustainable future.
