Our Future Your Future
For nearly 100-years Longridge has been providing outdoor adventures for young people, with over 80,000 visitors every year coming from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of abilities. They will grow in confidence, learn about risk and develop greater agency over their lives. We work with various community groups and charities to develop programmes that will give young people the tools to overcome specific issues and nothing gives us greater pleasure than to welcome our young visitors back, as adults with their families. We need Longridge to survive these turbulent times and be here for another 100-years. To achieve this we need your help to replace our dilapidated buildings with those that will allow us to operate year-round and provide new, inspirational activities. Our first challenge is to finish building our 2nd Tented Village that this year will welcome 3700 young people to enjoy for many of them, their first time staying away from home.
We have all learned a lot in the last few years. Whilst recent times have been undoubtedly hard, we have all realised how important our families, friends and communities are. Home is important, and whilst Longridge has been home to many people over the years, we want to create a home for everyone. A safe place that our community will enjoy in a myriad of different ways. What has become clearer since Covid is that our beautiful location not only introduces young people to outdoor adventure it also allows them to appreciate our natural resource and how to care for it.
Sadly, years of regular winter floods have meant that our buildings urgently need replacing or refurbishing. And whilst our new buildings need to be raised, then can be tented, semi-permanent facilities that will give protection from the worst of the weather but as sustainable builds will be using nature to provide power and insulation - so they have a very light touch on the planet.
We want Longridge to be affordable, inspiring and available to young people, their families and friends of all backgrounds and abilities for many more generations to come.
