For more than forty years, the Universal Hall has been a place where people come together to celebrate, perform, create, learn and connect. Built largely by hand between 1974 and 1983 by hundreds of volunteers from around the world, it stands as a lasting testament to the power of community, generosity and shared purpose.

Designed by architect George Ripley, the Hall has welcomed internationally renowned musicians, speakers and performers – including Dougie Maclean, The Waterboys, Joan Armatrading, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Eckhart Tolle – alongside local theatre productions, concerts, workshops, celebrations and community gatherings. Today it remains a vibrant home for the arts, learning and community life.

The Hall now needs some careful investment to ensure it can continue welcoming and inspiring future generations.
