MindOut is a mental health service based in Brighton and Hove, run by and for LGBT+ people with experience of mental health issues. They offer many services for the community such as suicide prevention, Trans advocacy and peer-to-peer mentoring for both young adults and people aged 50+.
The Loughborough LGBT+ Association has chosen to raise money for MindOut due to the continuous and tremendous help they have offered to the community not only throughout the years, but also throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Social isolation has had a great negative impact on LGBT+ people, with some being trapped with abusive partners or parents, some being denied access to prescribed hormone injections due to their non-essential nature, and some experiencing heightened feelings of depression and anxiety. MindOut reported an increased surge of people with suicidal distress reaching out to their services throughout the pandemic.
We will be focusing our efforts on this incredible charity - with your support, we will be able to raise the necessary funds to help MindOut continue their powerful work and continue to save lives.
