At Loughborough University we promote outstanding quality of educational experience. We raise funds from former students and other friends of the university to develop projects in areas such as Student Hardship, Scholarships, Bursaries and Prizes and Student-related initiatives.

Story

The event itself has a competitive side; for the weekend, teams from each university/students union are competing in these events to score points for their University, hoping to score the most and come out on top. The winner of each year gets to host for the next year (Sheffield won last year and will now be hosting). The entire weekend is a charity event on top of this; as a collective, we will be raising money for Roundabout (Sheffields local youth housing charity) and SAYiT (An LGBT+ young people and sexual health/HIV charity).

There are a plethora of events that take place each year at Nationals - it encompasses all sections of the Tabletop society and the hobby in general. There will be wargaming, board games, card games and roleplaying games. In addition to this, there will be a LARP offered (Live Action Role Play) and a Mega Game (A cross-discipline genre that pulls from board gaming, wargaming, role playing games and a dash of LARPing). As can be seen, it is a massive event that offers activities for everyone to get involved with. The event is inclusive and open to anyone - just because 'teams' are going, the most casual players can join in too. There is no bias towards any group; anyone is welcome at this event and organisers work to make it a welcoming environment. Nationals also offers a good social environment and allows students to meet new people from the hobby and allows them to learn more about their hobby too.

Sheffield University are hosting this year and the LSU Tabletop Games Society would like to send a team along to Nationals comprised of anyone from our member base who would like to go and is available. To do this, we're looking to hire a minivan to take us there and back to Sheffield for the weekend, as well as subsidising hotels and tickets for members. This is obviously an expensive task and as a small to medium sized society, our funds don't cover this sort of trip. We're also an asset heavy society, which means we have to make sure our money is going back into the right place. This has meant in previous years we have had to forego events like this in favour of reinvesting in our society. The society could therefore use the funding to finance the trip.

Supporting us will:

1. Allow a group of our students compete at a national level, meet our peers from around the country and proudly represent Loughborough!

2. Encourage and support growth of our club, allowing us to raise our profile and be a home to even more students.

3. Enhance the Loughborough experience for our members and the attendees to the competition, giving us something to look forward to whilst working hard on our studies.
