Since 1987, the Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship Fund has existed to support the UK's dance community to learn, develop and form international connections.
The aim of our small charity is to provide financial support to individuals who wish to travel abroad or in the United Kingdom to attend a conference, to pursue a research project or to undertake a short course of study in the field of movement or dance. This experience provides dance professionals at every stage of their career the opportunity to develop their ideas, enhance their practice, and enrich the communities they work with.
Each year, we welcome applications from UK-based dance an movement professionals. Set up in memory of Lisa Ullmann, since 1987 the Fund has awarded travel scholarships to help people to pursue an extraordinarily wide range of projects. Our previous recipients include individuals who are now leading figures in the UK dance sector including Kenneth Tharp, Seeta Patel and Kerry Nicholls.
The diversity of the projects realised and the consequent communication between different sectors of the dance community world-wide is very much in tune with Lisa Ullmann’s own life and work. She was a distinguished teacher of movement and dance, whose unique work contributed to the dance education of countless students, dancers and teachers. For more information, visit: lutsf.org.uk
