Lymm Sanctuary Hub and Lymm Business Centre are supporting the Lymm Help Campaign - Leave No One Behind (LNOB) in Lymm - which was set up in March 2020 just prior to the Government lockdown.
LNOBIL mobilised within days of the shutdown to offer support to anyone affected by the Covid-19 crisis, especially the elderly, vulnerable, isolated and financially challenged households. The goal is simple: make sure no one is left behind and caught between the gaps of other support systems, temporarily or otherwise.
The campaign includes a website Lymm Help, Facebook page, help phone line and a network of Area and Street Champions plus further volunteers both in street locations and grouped by set goals such as food donations and distribution management. The team also works closely with a newly created radio station - Lymm Radio.
Although the hub and centre closed for normal business in March, it immediately offered its space and services to support the Lymm Help campaign. The Business Centre contributed towards the costs and production time of over 10000 leaflets that went out to every household in Lymm, over 160 streets, with details of the campaign and a nominated street champion for each.
The Hub then offered its site for the collection of support packs to champions and later for the storage of food donations for redistribution to those in need as well as care pack donations for NHS sites and care homes.
The campaign has been met with great success and even featured on ITV News. It paved the way for local support before some of the council initiatives had mobilised and neighbouring parishes have asked us for help in setting up their campaigns too.
We've made a great start and now need your help to keep the work going with a centralised system offering hot meals and food parcels as we envisage increasing demand for the support offered as isolation and financial challenges impact further.
Lymm Sanctuary Hub and Business Centre has now become the official charity partner of LNOBIL Hub to oversee the fundraising and, in partnership with several other local organisations, support the logistics of the Meals and Food Donations Scheme.
This has grown from pilot projects run with local caterers and restaurants who kindly donated meals and food supplies during March and April destined for those in need that were nominated by their street champions, local churches and local neighbourhood groups.
The scheme now puts in place a more robust and sustainable route for nominating and prioritising those in need but also involving and supporting our generous local businesses who will become suppliers to the scheme.
Financial donations via this fundraising page, along with further grants, will allow LNOB to sustain and extend the Lymm Meal Scheme, allowing LNOB to buy hot meals locally and contribute to food parcels packed in the Hub.
The LNOB Delivery Team will then ensure safe delivery of meals and parcels according to social distancing guidelines and Lymm Churches Together will provide admin support to liaise with the end recipients.
Hot meals and food parcels will be distributed according to needs indicated on the central Lymm Food & Meal Support Registration Form.
This campaign represents a truly collaborative venture in Lymm, involving multiple parties, organisations and volunteers and it is a campaign the Hub and Centre are proud to be supporting for its natural fit with our goals of running programmes and activities that support both the business and residential communities of Lymm.
