Miles for Men is a series of 5k fundraising events, to raise funds for research to help beat cancer and helping and supporting local families. Our UK wide events have attracted over 10,000 men and women since launching in August 2012, donating over £375,000 for cancer charities and local families.

Story

Last November as part of the miles for men and walk for women team we visited a gentleman called Tommy Fletcher.

Stephen and Richie from the team heard about his devastating news that his cancer had returned and it was terminal.

They intiality went over to give them a break in Blackpool or the miles for men and walk for women caravan.

For some reason they walked out of their house agreeing to give them a dream wedding.

And that's what we did, along with the amazing people in Hartlepool, a magical wedding it was.

Then we heard his dream was to meet his WWE SUPERSTAR hero DANIEL BRYAN.

So once again miles for men and walk for women along with wwe and Hartlepool mail made is happen.

Daniel bryan was amazing with him and they chatted about each other's goals.

Tommy said after Daniel had fought back to be a wrestler again after an injury was such an inspiration for himself to fight.

That night Tommy cried and and there's no angles in heaven as they all here on earth making his dreams come true.

He was overwhelmed by the yes yes yes campaign and loved every video #wwefortommy.

And Tommy was also determined to walk across the finish line at this year's miles for men race day.

We tried to talk him out of it and he was having nothing.

What we do laugh about is what happened that day and what he shouted.

So as Stephen is pushing him along the route he shouts Jacky and says "Jacky I've got a hard on" she shouts "TOMMY"

"Never mind TOMMY he says, it's been 3 years since I've had one"

Micky and Stephen are laughing so much and Tommy is giggling his head off, it's the moments like this that memories are made off.

Now we want to give Hartlepools gentle Giant one amazing send off.

He touched the hearts of thousands of people who followed his story these last 10 months.

I'm you will all agree he definitely was a huge character with a matching huge heart.

So please let's give him an amazing send off in true Hartlepool style.
