Macca's Mates

Organised by Foundation Scotland

All funds raised will be added to the Maccas Mates pot, with donations going towards Maggie's Centres in Scotland. This is in memory of our dear colleague, Gary MacDougall

Inspiring giving has been our passion since 1996 when we started connecting philanthropists with exceptional charities, enterprises and community organisations. Our aim is to help strengthen local communities by providing sources of funding.

Story

'The Tour O the Borders is a cycle sportive event which starts and finishes in Peebles and runs in September each year. As many of you will know, Gary was a keen cyclist and was regularly seen on a static bike during his cancer rehab treatment. He even continued to cycle to and from his treatment when he was no longer able to cycle during it. Gary and his partner Anna were aware of research being conducted in Denmark, and here in Edinburgh, that suggested that aerobic exercise whilst on chemotherapy could help make the treatment more effective.

Following the success of previous events, we are taking part in this year’s Tour O the Borders Sportive in Peebles on Sunday September 3rd 2023.

All monies raised will go to Maggie's who provide free cancer support to people across the UK. Maggies really helped Gary during his treatment, and they continue to do crucial work in helping people with their prehab/rehab treatment.

If you are making a general donation to Maccas Mates, please note this donation is eligible for Gift Aid.
