Join us in celebrating our 5th Birthday!
This October, we are celebrating 5 years since our centre first opened its doors. To mark this special occasion, we have set ourselves the ambitious target of raising £50,000 to allow us to continue providing free cancer support. This could be enough to provide 1.1 cancer support to over 1,500 people living with cancer ensuring they get the vital support they need when their world has been turned upside-down.
There are 5 different ways you can join us in celebrating this October whilst also raising vital funds for Maggie's:
- Organise your own Maggie’s Kitchen Table Day – this could be anything from a birthday party, coffee morning or a cake sale with your friends and family. Register here for your free pack - https://www.maggies.org/get-involved/fundraise-with-us/kitchen-table-day/
- Making a donation instead of buying a birthday present. A donation of £15 could pay for someone with cancer to get immediate support from one of our Cancer Support Specialists. You can donate using the 'Give Now' button on the top right hand side of the page.
- Sign up to one of our events – we have abseils, walks, hikes, golfing and so much more on offer; visit https://www.maggies.org/our-centres/maggies-royal-marsden/ for more information
- Convince your school, work, friends or family to Go Outrageously Orange for the day (or even the week!). For more information email ella.gibson@maggies.org
- Organise your own thing to celebrate – could you run a 5K around your local park, or do 10,000 steps a day with you dog? Set up your JustGiving page here by clicking on the 'Start Fundraising' button on the right hand side
Don’t forget to let us know what you are doing as we would love to hear more about it and to support you every step of the way!
Since we opened, our visitors have been hit with the ‘perfect storm’. Firstly, the pandemic, and most recently, the sharp economic downturn. The long-term impact of lockdowns and shielding is still being felt. Delayed NHS appointments have led to missed and late diagnoses and poorer outcomes such as advanced and incurable cancers.
More families than ever are having to deal with the devastating consequences of a cancer diagnosis. Over the past 5 years we have received over 90,000 visits from people with cancer and this year we are expected to receive as many as 21,500. Our free support has never been more vital.
We would be so grateful if you would consider supporting us this October, ensuring that we can continue to be there for everyone who needs us over the next 5 years.
How your donations could help Maggie's:
£15 could help pay for someone to get immediate support from one of our cancer support specialists.
£30 could help pay for a session with a psychologist to reduce someone's anxiety.
£60 could help pay for a gentle exercise class for up to ten centre visitors.
£250 could help pay for a six-week bereavement course, led by our psychologists.
£3000 could pay to run Maggie's at The Royal Marsden for a whole day so that we can open our doors free of charge for everyone with cancer who needs us.
