Story
Hi, our daughter's name is Maia Stefania. She was born around Christmas time in 2021 in Littlehampton in West Sussex. At the age of 7 months old she was diagnosed with GDD or 'global development delay'.
The term 'developmental delay or 'global development delay' is used when a child takes longer to reach certain development milestones than other children their age. This might include learning to walk or talk, movement skills, learning new things and interacting with others socially and emotionally. Someone with another condition, like Downs syndrome or Cerebral palsy, may also have Global developmental delay.
Every parent wants their child to develop normally, but you never know what life has in store for you. You would do everything to see them better and sometimes you feel exhausted, but life takes care of everyone and will light the way for you and send you the right people to strengthen you.
Everything for Maia requires a lot of patience and time to develop and to be able to enjoy what is around her, like any other children.
The cause of the diagnosis is yet unknown, but in order to strengthen her muscles and her skills, to be able to sit alone and in time to walk independently requires many recovery sessions, aids, physiotherapy and other therapies.
We thank you for your support.
