Malachi is a lovely six-year-old boy from Hackney who was diagnosed with autism and a learning disability in 2023.

Malachi experiences significant challenges in his everyday life and needs a high level of support from the adults around him. He is currently unable to feed himself independently, still wears nappies and has very limited awareness of danger. He finds it difficult to interact and play with other children and often relies on an adult to guide and encourage him through everyday activities.

Communication is also a major challenge for Malachi. His mum hopes that, as he grows, he will develop greater independence and find more ways to communicate his needs, feelings and personality to the people around him.

Just4Children are hoping to raise £25,000 towards stem cell therapy. They are exploring this treatment in the hope that it may support areas of Malachi’s development, including his communication, motor and cognitive skills and engagement with the world around him.

His mum is very clear that this is not about trying to change who Malachi is. She loves and accepts her son for the wonderful little boy he is. Her hope is simply to give him every opportunity possible to develop, become more independent and enjoy the best quality of life he can.
