Story
Hello everyone, if you don't know me already I'm John and I have been supporting Amicii Dog Rescue for the past few years. I have adopted 2 dogs from Amicii, Poppy and Charlie as well as fostering other dogs to give them the chance to find their forever homes. Poppy was found on the streets of Romania with a fractured leg, she was was around 1 years old. We have had her for 2 years now and she is a sweet and friendly girl that loves lots of fuss. Charlie was saved from the public shelter where he was awaiting a terrible fait, he is just 10 months old. He came to us as a foster but we ended up keeping him as he fitted in so perfectly!
Amicii Dog Rescue is a UK based charity, which was established to support a dog rescue shelter in Transylvania, Western Romania. The shelter cares for up to 300 dogs at any one time and is run by Asociatia Amicii Nostri, a registered NGO.The dogs that live at the shelter have mainly come from the streets of Viioara, Câmpia Turzii and Turda. Some dogs are abandoned at the shelter, for example they have been thrown over the fence or left in cardboard boxes! Others have been abandoned by their owners and taken into the care of the shelter team, whilst some are taken from the state public shelter in Turda. The team work extremely hard to look after the dogs and would really appreciate your support. If you are on social media, you can follow their work through Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
This will be my first full marathon and I have only been running for 18 months, it's going to be a tough challenge and will require a lot of time and dedication. However, after visiting the Amicii shelter in person and seeing what these dogs are subject to, I am more determined than ever to reach out of my comfort zone and raise funds for this Incredible charity. I would really appreciate your support in reaching my target of £1000, the funds raised will be used to provide food, shelter and warmth for these dogs as well as covering vet bills that are constantly increasing for the charity. Thank you again for visiting my Just Giving page, fingers crossed I will reach my target!
