Helen has been volunteering for Prickles in a Pickle Hedgehog Rescue Charity for 5 years. She started out in our transport team, picking up sick and injured hedgehogs that the public find in her local area. She soon fell in love with these adorable little creatures and started overnighting any hedgehog needing a bed for the night before coming to the hedgehog hospital. She also is a first responder to any emergency calls in her area. In 2023 she completed the Vale Hedgehog Rehabilitation and 1st aid Course. Helen is a popular member of the team and has great experience and knowledge.
Helen has two children and works full time at a supermarket. Helen has been doing CaniCross (CaniCross is a dog powered sport where the dog is harnessed and attached to the runner by a bungee) with her dog for the last 7 years and has been pulled up the hills, but now admits she is having to train to get herself up the hills unaided !
Helen will be in her 50th year when she does the Plymouth Half Marathon and it is a personal challenge as well as wanting to raise money for Prickles in a Pickle
Prickles in a Pickle is a Hedgehog Rescue Charity based in Stoke Fleming , South Devon and we take in around 1300 sick and injured hedgehogs a year. We are run entirely by volunteers and we have over 45 wonderful people volunteering, we have a strong group of Trustees and are a well run and well respected Hedgehog Rescue. The British Hedgehog has recently been added to the red list of endangered animals and we all need to work hard to save them. Rescues such as Prickles in a Pickle are the best chance these wonderful little creatures have when they find themselves in trouble. Please support Helen and Prickles in a Pickle in this fundraiser - as the saying goes 'every little helps' !
