Sadly, as some of you may know, my sister-in-law Annmarie Farina-Bray lost her battle with cancer last September. Throughout her illness, St David’s Hospice provided her with exceptional care and support when it was needed most.

In order to say thank you to St David’s Hospice for the services they provided us as a family, I will be undertaking a charity walk in September with the aim of raising much needed funds for this inspirational charitable organisation.

My aim will be to walk 26.2 Miles per week, for four weeks which is the equivalent distance to a Marathon per week. The money raised throughout this time will help St David’s Hospice be able to continue to provide the care needed by so many families within our community at some of the most difficult times.

Below is just some of the ways in which the proceeds could be used by St David’s Hospice:

• £50 Will provide a patient with a relaxing complimentary therapy session.

• £100 Can provide a bereaved relative with much needed support from the Bereavement Team

• £170 Provides one night of Hospice at Home care.

• £180 Pays for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to visit a patient and their family week to stabilise their symptoms.

• £200 Funds a patient’s visit to our Day Hospice.

• £500 Pays for one night’s care in our in-patient when patients need it most.

• £1,400 Pays for a syringe driver to help manage symptoms in a comfortable way.

Unfortunately, cancer affects so many of us and families in our community. Therefore, your support and any donations will be greatly appreciated.
