Marek's run for Hope

Campaign by Hope ESOL CIO

Marek is running the Newcastle Half Marathon at Kingston Parkon on Sunday 12th July. He would like to raise money for Hope English School and bring hope to others.

We exist to see refugees and those seeking asylum set free from the isolation that comes from not being able to speak the language of the culture they are in.

Story

Why half-marathon?

I have always really enjoyed running and have wanted to do a half-marathon for a long time. I have just finished my final year at Newcastle University and thought this summer would be a good chance to fully get back into running.

I am currently doing 5k and 7.5k runs to try and build up my fitness and have just started following a training plan. Most of the running I am doing is around Newcastle, which is a nice city to run around and is thankfully nowhere near as hilly as Sheffield.

Why Hope English School

I want to raise money for Hope Language School because teaching refugees English and digital skills is such a great cause that I would love to support. My mum Josie has really enjoyed volunteering for the school, so I would like to raise some money to help with the work that they do.

Support the cause

Hope English School was founded in 2016 to respond to the challenges refugees and asylum seekers face, from long waiting lists to language barriers and lack of funding. Since then, they’ve grown to include Digital Skills training, helping those often left behind in an increasingly online world.

Every pound raised will help Hope continue their vital work:

providing classes, resources, and the confidence that comes from communication.

Your donation could make a real difference:

£60 = sponsor a student for one term

£80 = cover student bus fares for a week

£720 = fund a class for 12 weeks

Thank you

Every donation, no matter big or small, helps Hope continue transforming lives through learning.

Thank you for believing in this mission and helping us make it real.

If you’d like to support us, please donate or share this page.
