Maritime is hugely important to the UK. 95% of imports and exports to Britain are moved by sea. Despite this importance, the number of UK seafarers has been in decline.
Cowes Enterprise College is in the perfect location to introduce young people to the maritime sector. Located in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, maritime permeates our history, our geography and our economy.
We have created Maritime Futures. An engaging curriculum for all young people in Cowes Enterprise College, where young people get hands-on experience of the maritime sector through exciting practical projects and experiences.
As a school, our teaching costs are covered by government funding. But we need support from individuals and organisations who are passionate about maritime to provide those activities in our Maritime Futures curriculum that bring learning to life - activities such as going on a boat trip, visiting local boat builders, using state-of-the-art equipment at the island's CECAMMS facility, showcasing the boats they have built in a community regatta.
If you support us, your donation will be used to pay for these activities and allow us to deliver our unique Maritime Futures curriculum, inspiring the next generation of UK maritime workers both off-shore and on-shore.
