Story
“When my treatment finished, I felt lost… like no one was there to help me face what came next.” This is a story we hear time and again at C.A.R.S.
A cancer diagnosis affects far more than physical health, it can turn daily life upside down, shaking confidence, relationships, and emotional wellbeing. For many, the real challenges begin after treatment ends, when clinical support fades.
C.A.R.S. is here to fill that gap. Our free, community-based Loughborough hub, provides a safe, welcoming space where people can access trusted information, be heard, understood, and supported. Here, they share experiences, rebuild confidence and find practical ways to cope.
This support extends to carers, family members, colleagues, and the bereaved, people often overlooked but deeply affected by cancer.
The need for our work is growing. Rising diagnoses and stretched NHS services leave many struggling to access the help they need. By reducing isolation, nurturing emotional wellbeing, and restoring a sense of control, our hubs transform the cancer journey from one of fear and loneliness into one of connection, hope, and resilience for individuals and the wider community.
