Our current chapel has been loved by generations of Chadsians since its was first erected - as a temporary structure - in 1927! A humble building under the shadow of a great cathedral, St Chad's College chapel is a place of welcome for everyone, the home of our college's spiritual life, and also for much of our cultural activity.
Our surveyor has identified that urgent work is needed to save the chapel from becoming unusable and a potential liability. We plan to carry out essential refurbishment to restore the chapel to a sound and safe state by:
Replacing the roof
Re-wiring
Making safe the interior asbestos panels
Repairing the exterior wooden cladding
Provisional cost indications are in the region of £200,000
Funding Secured to date:
Thanks to a generous legacy and two significant gifts, our appeal fund has already secured 25% (£50,000) of the total cost of this project. We hope that many friends and supporters will take this opportunity to provide a lasting and meaningful memorial to Mark Roberts and the building he loved, and to preserve our Chapel for future generations.
