It was established in 1893 to help the stray and unwanted dogs roaming the streets of Manchester. Later covering parts of Lancashire, Cheshire and Derbyshire, today it remains the only Home of its kind, caring for over 3000 dogs each year. Over 95% of dogs are Homed or re-Homed

Story

Marlow the French Bulldog came into our care in July this year when he was collected as a stray roaming the streets. His owner never came forward and so was never claimed. Marlow had a huge mass on his neck when he first came and he had to have a course of antibiotics before surgery to have the mass removed.

Since this surgery the mass has reduced in Marlow's neck however, on further examination the vet here noticed a abnormality in Marlow's throat. For this reason he does need a CT scan for which we would need to send him to an external vet. He will most likely need further treatment/investigations that we cannot provide.
