Marsden Silver Prize Band Flood Appeal

A campaign to raise funds for Marsden Band to support them as they deal with the aftermath of the devastating flooding of the bandroom.

Marsden Silver Prize Band are a local village band with a proud heritage spanning over 135 years. We encourage the appreciation of and participation in the performance of brass band music in our local area and further afield.

Story

Marsden Band had a devastating start to the new year. A burst internal water pipe in the roof area caused severe flooding throughout our entire Bandroom on all three floors.

Water ruined floors, walls, and ceilings. Precious instruments are damaged or destroyed. Hundreds of years of irreplaceable sheet music are soaked and lost. Uniforms, essential equipment, and furniture are all damaged. The ground floor, first floor, and upper rooms were all unsafe and unusable.

We are shattered by this sad incident but we are determined to carry on. Logistically, we still face a long road ahead with insurance claims and renovations, even now almost 6 months along, we are only just getting close to finishing drying out the building, at which point we will be able to start on repairs and replacement of equipment. The band need to keep rehearsing as we prepare for the National Brass Band Championships in September, but we cannot do it alone.

We have been overwhelmed by the offers of support and help from our friends, supporters and the wider brass band community so far. This fundraising page has been set up to allow those who have expressed a desire to make donations to help us with the costly road ahead.
