Through the past we see the future…
Our museum needs your support.
Over the years our visitor numbers have been steadily rising, allowing us to expand our site and tell more of the history of the men and women who served at the Air Station.
Due to this expansion, we require a dedicated office/meeting place in which we can continue sharing the stories of our personnel and the rich history of the site, as well as advancing our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) initiatives. Our STEMstart® projects, which include the STEM Trail, are central to our mission. Additionally, we frequently collaborate with local schools and youth groups on various STEM projects. The proposed space would also serve as a training area for volunteers, a reception for artefact donors, and a meeting space for potential investors.
To allow this to be both cost and time effective the museum needs to purchase a modular office style building.
How can you help?
We are asking for your generosity to allow us to move the museum forward.
Please be assured that every single penny raised from your kind donations will be directly used by Montrose Air Station Museum to purchase and equip a suitable unit, in which to carry out the important work as described above.
Our History
In 1913 Great Britain was preparing to meet an unprecedented threat, this was to become 'The Great War'. To meet this threat and with great foresight Montrose Air Station was formed in February 1913, making it arguably the first fully operational military air station in Great Britain.
Montrose Air Station, later becoming RAF Montrose, was actively involved in training young pilots throughout the First World War and was reactivated to train the young pilots who just a few years later were called up to fight a threat once again during the Second World War.
As a result, Montrose Air Station has a vitally important place within military aviation history.
Montrose Air Station Museum remains committed to the training and education of young people through our STEMstart® initiative.
Thank you for taking the time to consider our appeal.
Onwards and upwards together
