Honley Male Voice Choir is a registered charity (charity no. 1158453) based in Honley near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. We teach choral singing to develop our community involvement, as singing is a pleasurable activity, which reduces anxiety and can lessen feelings of depression or loneliness.

We are partnering with One Community's new programme of support called Match it! Any money raised or donated to us will be matched by them. Match it! will match our online fundraising efforts over 3 months from 1 November 2020 to 31 January 2021. Your donation will have twice the impact, helping us continue to do the great work we do for our community.

We have devised a suite of fundraising ideas to run for 3 months from 1 November 2020. These include individual / company donations, 'Lucky Squares' Christmas raffle, 'Slim to Win' sponsored weight loss, 'Punz & Poemz' booklet, Christmas 'Corona Quizzical', '50p Pot' Challenge and choir Newsletter Christmas messages.

In normal times, the choir perform many concerts throughout the year raising money for local and national charities. In recent years, the choir have raised considerable sums for Kirkwood Hospice, Forget-Me-Not Children's Hospice, The Lions Club of Huddersfield, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Alzheimer's Society.

In order to keep the choir together during the Covid-19 pandemic, our musical professionals are working hard to allow us to carry on rehearsing (virtually via Zoom) thereby maintaining the fellowship of the choir.

We have introduced a support group (under age 70) to deliver groceries, medical supplies or simply chat, WhatsApp groups so people can keep in touch, weekly and monthly newsletters from our Musical Director and Chairman respectively, weekly online rehearsals and fortnightly quizzes using Zoom technology.

We Rise Again

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the choir's virtual 12-hour 'We Rise Again - Performathon' fundraising event on 5 September 2020 which raised nearly £6,000 in total for three charities. Your kindness and generosity ensured this event was a huge success.

Despite the current restrictions the choir keeps working to achieve its charitable aims and objectives.
