When we discovered a year ago that Dad had been diagnosed with GIST Stomach cancer, it left us grappling with shock, fear, and an unforeseen level of uncertainty.
The news of Mum’s cancer diagnosis shortly after felt like a cruel twist of fate, compounding our grief and confusion.
Despite our collective numbness, these challenges brought our family closer together. Dad, ever the selfless and loving husband, prioritised Mum’s care above his own. Despite his suffering, when Mum was hospitalised, he never missed a day visiting her.
There are no words adequate to express the sorrow of losing Dad. Yet, we find solace in the cherished memories shared by us, his family, and friends.
Dad's unwavering dedication to his loved ones was fully reciprocated when he needed it most. The outpouring of kindness and supportive gestures we received has been a profound comfort to us and to Mum.
Dad was more than just our anchor; he was a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a husband, and a brother. His absence has left a profound void in our lives, accompanied by feelings of numbness and emptiness.
Despite our profound loss, we are grateful for the precious memories and the quality time we spent with Dad, a privilege that many do not get to experience.
In honour of Dad’s last wishes, he requested that donations be made to GIST Cancer UK. We kindly ask you to consider contributing in any way you can to this cause.
