Hi, I’m Mayank. I’m 11 years old and live with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Just4Children are raising funds to help cover the cost of my lifelong therapy.

I was born in Chertsey 5weeks premature. When I was just 21 days old, an MRI confirmed I had cerebral palsy affecting all four of my limbs.

As I grew, I missed all my major physical milestones. Today, I am still unable to crawl, stand, or walk. Every day is a battle against spasticity (severe muscle stiffness), which severely limits my mobility and causes frequent, painful spasms.

Seeking a better future for me, my parents discovered Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR)—a surgical procedure that could eliminate the spasticity in my legs and drastically improve my quality of life. In 2021, I underwent SDR surgery.

Since the operation, I have been working hard in regular physiotherapy and strength training sessions. To gain more independence, I will need to continue this intensive therapy for the rest of my life. However, this essential care costs up to £8,000 every year.
